    Completed for the Vyd Chapel and inaugurated in 1432, this monumental altarpiece stands among the great achievements of European painting. Created by the brothers Hubert and Jan van Eyck, masters of the Flemish primitive tradition, the work consists of twenty panels that were opened only on Sundays and feast days.

    At its centre shines the Adoration Of The Mystic Lamb, whose precious blood flows into a chalice, a profound reference to the salvation offered through Christ. Around the fountain of eternal life, apostles, prophets, martyrs, and holy men and women gather in unity, offering worship to the Lamb of God.
