Guido Reni

Italian Baroque painter (1511–1574) from Bologna and one of the most celebrated artists of his day. Trained in the circle of the Carracci, he developed a luminous, classical style with graceful figures and clear, harmonious compositions. Reni’s altarpieces and images of the Virgin, Christ, and the saints were widely copied and helped define a more idealized, devotional current within Baroque painting.
