Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1617–1682) was the leading Baroque painter in Seville and one of Spain’s most celebrated religious artists. He painted tender Immaculate Conceptions, Holy Families, and genre scenes of everyday life, uniting soft light, warm color, and gentle emotion.
