Dressed in a blue mantle over a red gown, she folds her hands across her heart in a gesture of prayer and surrender. A faint aura of a halo surrounds her head, against a plain brown background. Murillo’s delicate brushwork and soft light convey both human emotion and divine serenity, inviting the viewer into silent contemplation of her maternal love.
