    Mary Magdalene kneels before the Lord, holding the ointment jar that recalls her devotion to Christ. At first she had come to the tomb to anoint His body, yet instead she encounters the living Savior. Christ appears in the simple guise of a gardener, holding a spade, a detail that reflects the Gospel account in which Mary initially mistakes Him for the keeper of the garden.
