Miguel Mateo Maldonado y Cabrera (1695–1768) was a Mexican Baroque painter of the Viceroyalty of New Spain, widely regarded as the greatest artist of eighteenth-century colonial Mexico. Working mainly in Mexico City, he produced numerous devotional images of the Virgin Mary and the saints. His works were commissioned by churches, religious orders, and colonial elites.
