Matthias Stomer (c. 1600–c. 1652), also known as Matthias Stom, was a Dutch Baroque painter active in Italy. Influenced by Caravaggio, he specialized in dramatic chiaroscuro and emotionally charged biblical scenes illuminated by candlelight.
