Tobit, an Israelite living in Nineveh, had sent his son Tobias to reclaim money entrusted to relatives years before, unaware that Tobias’s travelling companion was Raphael in disguise. Their journey brought both the recovered funds and the remedy for Tobit’s blindness, made from a fish encountered along the way. Here Raphael stands revealed in radiant white as he readies the healing medicine that Tobias holds, while the small moneybag rests nearby as a sign of God’s providence. The brilliance of the angel contrasts beautifully with the humble barnyard setting, reminding us that divine help often appears in the quiet places of life.
